"My visits to India and my experience in general have convinced me that yoga can be an effective treatment for back pain. As in all things, however, it has to be done right. The “Yoga For Back Pain Toolkit” provides the means of doing exactly that. A safe and effective self help toolkit for back pain sufferers, which emancipates and enables any back pain sufferer (which is virtually all of us!) to make an active contribution to our future"

"The Yoga for Back Pain Toolkit is a thoroughly well thought out manual for self improvement for the back pain sufferer. It covers anatomy, pathology and exercise principles in great detail. The average person will find this manual extremely informative and clearly explained using many fine illustrations.

This is an excellent piece of work by Joy Anderson, an enormously useful resource for all back pain sufferers and equally of use to those who wish to prevent such conditions as well as for those who are recovering."

"The best advice you can get is from people who have journeyed through a serious back injury themselves - successfully. Joy's book is a passionate and personal account of her experiences, which involves you on all levels of Yoga and back pain.
I particularly enjoyed the 'Anatomy of Back Pain' chapter, which I believed was interesting and informative for all those hoping to get a deeper understanding of their problem. It is written in a comfortable easy-read style, and the diagrams and images are excellent. In fact, the whole book is one of the best ebook layouts I have seen, and truly encompasses all that is possible with ebook format. There are entertaining videos clips, and the Yoga Postures are demonstrated on colourful card style pages which are pleasant to the eye and very computer screen friendly. No arduous block text here!

Joy's students asked her to write this book, and the stories within the book prove why. The book is well worth the investment, and left me feeling uplifted in the fact that Joy has achieved success with her own serious back issue, and those of others."

"I first met Joy Anderson ten years ago when I had injured both my knees in a car accident. I had developed serious mobility problems in my knees to the extent, that at times, going up stairs was a painful and slow process. A friend had recommended yoga, and described Joy as ‘the best yoga teacher I have had in 30 years', a view I came to share.

Joy's yoga practices are a wonderful oasis of calmness and peace in the week. Her studio is a bright space with natural scents chosen to calm the most hectic mind and body. Her teaching feels safe and paced to match the needs of the participants, and its fun! Yoga has vastly improved my posture, mobility and flexibility and the sense of having a mind and body that feel more integrated.

I was really pleased to have Joy's Yoga for Back Pain eBook.

Module 1 | The Foundation, is an introduction to yoga, and the posture and difficulties which cause back pain.

Module 2 | The Practice, is a very clear helpful step-by-step description of the 100 plus flexibility, relaxation and strengthening of the whole body poses. I especially liked the top tips for how to get the best from your partner in the shared poses! This module is easy to use at home and allows you to develop and vary your own sequencing programmes.

Module 3 | The Workbook, is a clear summary of the postures which improve flexibility and support, strengthening of the back with a very helpful set of 7 detailed exercise menus ...... ideal for those of us that fit yoga into busy lives. I really enjoyed this excellent accessible Toolkit and wish Joy every success in spreading her teaching to an ever wider audience."

"As an osteopath I recommend yoga for most of my patients once they have recovered from the initial acute phase of back pain. However, I am aware that many of them find it difficult to make a regular weekly class so I was very interested to read Joy's yoga course. I was impressed with the quality of the illustrations and found the instructions easy to follow. I particularly like the emphasis on making sure you do something each day, so you can pick out just 10 minutes of postures or do 60 minutes when you have time. If everyone followed this advice, the incidence of recurring back pain would be greatly reduced."

"Joy's three-part book is sincere in the assumption that two factors are necessary to bring about ease in the body: these are simplicity and persistence. Through her own experience of a serious back complaint, Joy has outlined an easy-to-read account that enables fellow sufferers to bring about their own healing process. Happily, there is no need for the reader to be adept at yoga; yoga, after all, is all about simplicity and this is mirrored in the poses throughout the book. Equally, since yoga requires a degree of self-motivation, Joy's enthusiasm and experience gives the impetus that is required. The book is very much about self-healing. For the back pain sufferer, it looks to be a simple and fun way out."

"When I first began sifting through all the amazing information in The Yoga for Back Pain Toolkit, I had no idea how in-depth author and creator, Joy Anderson, would be.

As someone who depends on a healthy back to stay productive in my business I found The Yoga for Back Pain Toolkit to be a great resource for everything from mild irritation from sitting too long to overworking from my marathon training.

Not only does Joy give readers a peek inside her own experience with severe back pain, she explains in detail what are the most common causes of back pain - this section may surprise you with what does cause back pain. From there Joy has dozens upon dozens of easy to do yoga stretches that virtually anyone can do without any special equipment.
I can highly recommend The Yoga for Back Pain Toolkit to anyone who is looking for relief and prevention from back pain."

"Mini Course
This is an excellent introduction written with a clear understanding of people's feelings and empathy for their suffering, based on personal experience. The text is readable and graphically described e.g. ‘walk your fingers like a spider' and using an everyday article like a phone book.
It definitely motivates you to find out more about the full course.

The Yoga for Back Pain Toolkit
The modular approach taken in this excellent publication gives a steady build up, from personal motivation to a very detailed, well illustrated and readable explanation of the causes back pain.
The videos are very well produced and give real examples of people overcoming back problems.
The postures are again well explained and take account of people's individual capabilities and allowing each person to find their own level, but giving a high level to aspire to. I particularly like the clear explanation of proper breathing, a major area of health benefit in itself.

There is good emphasis on regular practice, but little and often. Busy lives don't allow for hours of dedicated exercise, however healthy it is and motivation is soon lost.
I think this is an excellent thing for couples to do together and develop by learning from each other, one posture/routine at a time.
As a natural health researcher and advisor I have many calls about back pain and I would certainly recommend this book."
